Chris Woodruff is a mechanical engineer with 10 years of experience spanning the electronics, construction, and aerospace industries, and current fellow in the Arctic Innovator program sponsored by the DOE Advanced Manufacturing Office. Through this fellowship, he is splitting time between the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Idaho National Laboratory, researching novel materials and manufacturing approaches for high-temperature high-pressure (HTHP) processes. The goal of this research is to commercialize these technologies for the destruction of toxic contaminants such as PFAS ‘forever chemicals.’

While completing his MSME at the University of Washington, his graduate research at the Boeing Advanced Research Center (BARC) focused on controls & automation, process optimization, and additive manufacturing. In addition, volunteer work with Engineers Without Borders piqued his interest in water-related projects aiming to make a positive social and environmental impact.
