About: In this talk we will discuss high level best practices for accounting and compliance of SBIR/STTR grants. Some topics discussed will be: how to access your grants funds, proper grant draw techniques, how to track your time and spending appropriately, indirect rates, reporting, and how to prepare for an audit.

Bio:
Chris Brasfield has over 12 years of experience with all aspects of grant accounting and administration. In this time he has overseen these tasks on more than 80 awarded SBIR and STTR grant programs. As Controller for multiple biotech companies, he has set up accounting structures from scratch, managed audits, and negotiated F&A rates with the government. Currently he is the owner of Brasfield Accounting in Homer, AK which services local small business accounting needs as well SBIR/STTR companies across the US.

This is a learning event is hosted by the University of Alaska Center for Innovation, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship (Alaska Center ICE)
